GRACE Weekend Retreat for Bereaved Families October 24th- 26th, 2008 Come join and connect with others who have walked a similar path after having experienced a pregnancy or infant loss. This retreat has been created for parents during Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month as an opportunity to break away from the fast paced routine of life and have time to spend alone in reflection, together with their spouse or partner in renewing their relationship, and with a community of other families who long to commemorate and share about their babies in heaven. Individuals, couples and children are all welcome. Parents bringing their children will have many hours of free time to share as a family. The luxurious CARIBOU HIGHLANDS LODGE in Lutsen, MN is our retreat destination. The weekend will be a time to process the stages of the grief journey as well as to take part in a variety of high and low energy activities with others. All of this is being offered at a very low discounted rate - more than half of the normal cost to stay at the Caribou Highlands Lodge. Retreat packages start at $275 per couple and are ALL-inclusive. GRACE Child Care is provided on Saturday during scheduled activities. Click here for more information. |

4th Annual ~ALL Angels Remembrance Ceremony~ German Park - In the garden by the Angel fountain in New Ulm, MN Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 at 5pm ~From the moment of conception, a couple becomes parents and their baby becomes a human with an eternal spirit.~ In 1988, former President Ronald Reagan declared October to be "Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month." October 15th is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day www.october15th.com (*Loss of a baby during pregnancy or early infancy affects a large number of people, with at least 20% of all pregnancies ending in miscarriage, stillbirth, or early infant death.) We hope this will continue to be a yearly Remembrance in our community for every parent who has endured a loss. It will be held in the beautiful gardens at German Park, around the Angel fountain. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ During the service, mellow music will be played and all attending will have the opportunity to share about their child or loved one if they choose to. We will also be lighting candles in memory of our children who have died. We ask that each parent brings an individual taper candle or significant candle to light for their child or children. A brief reading will be done in memory of all the angels lost too soon. A poem or two will also be shared in their honor. Following the service, a special Book of Life will be available to all who have suffered the loss of an unborn child or infant, to enter their children's information into and individual acknowledgments of each child will be offered for those who so desire. We would like to add all of the angels lost to this precious Book each year during this special ceremony. We are going to do the ceremony at 5 pm, in German Park's beautiful garden area by the fountain. We will close the ceremony with a release of balloons, an affective and memorably warm tribute to the significance of each of the children's lives. Any questions, thoughts, comments or ideas? Feel free to contact us at: aidanleesmommy@yahoo.com 507-359-2380 ~Melanie & Mike Lemmer~ loving parents, forever, to ~Aidan Lee Lemmer 11/25/01~11/25/01~ :::ALL are Aidan's initials, and while missing him terribly every year that passes without him, as his parents we feel the need to do something very special in his honor -- and in honor of all the precious children who've left our world too soon. May they be remembered with love, forever::: Instead of planning Aidan's 7th birthday party this year, we put our hearts and soul into this event. Please help us make it memorable. |

Each year
the second Sunday in December is recognized as National Children’s Memorial Day wherein people around the world observe with appropriate ceremonies and activities in remembrance the many infants, children, teenagers, and young adults who have died. It is a nationally recognized day that hosts a special ceremony to remember and honor children who have died. As candles are lit at 7 p.m. local time, hundreds of thousands of persons commemorate and honor children in a way that transcends all ethnic, cultural, religious, and political boundaries. Believed to be the largest mass candle lighting on the globe, the Worldwide Candle Lighting creates a virtual 24-hour wave of light as it moves from time zone to time zone. Hundreds of formal candle lighting events are held and thousands of informal candle lightings are conducted in homes as families gather in quiet remembrance of children who are no longer with them. The United States Senate has, for several years, joined in the remembrance by unanimously passing resolutions declaring the second Sunday in December of each year National Children’s Memorial Day to coincide with The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting. Here in the United States, publicity about the event is widespread, being featured in the past in Parade Magazine, Ann Landers column, Guideposts magazine, Annie’s Mailbox, and literally hundreds of U.S. newspapers, dozens of television stations, and numerous Web sites. Information on the Worldwide Candle Lighting and planned memorial candle lighting services is posted on the TCF Web site at www.compassionatefriends.org each year. There is a Remembrance Book on this site that you can write a message today for your loved one or in remembrance of someone who has been touched so deeply by the loss of their child. The Worldwide Candle Lighting gives bereaved families everywhere the opportunity to remember their child . . . that their light may always shine! A moment of remembrance of children who have lived, have died and who even in death are loved and remembered. Please show your support by participating. Light a candle in Honor of a loved one |
